NEW TELEVISION PRODUCTION COMPANY
FACTORY TRANSMEDIA TAKE OVER HULLABALOO STUDIOS
- Employing over 30 people in the North West and supporting the British Animation Industry-
Factory Transmedia is pleased to announce the launch of its creatively-led production company situated at the former facilities of renowned post-production house, Hullabaloo Studios. Based in Altrincham, Factory TM now employs over 30 staff working on CBBC’s Strange Hill High - a half-hour comedy series produced with an all-new innovative technique combining puppets, stop-motion and CG, dubbed “hypervynorama”.
They have also been working with Chapman Entertainment on CBeebies’ Raa Raa the Noisy Lion and the company’s first live action feature, Pulp The Movie, with a raft of future projects in the pipeline.
Factory Transmedia’s Managing Director, Phil Chalk, Creative Director, Tim Harper and Director, Vince James, have built a strong reputation in the industry based on professional service, innovation and creativity. With over 50 years of animation experience between them, their ambition and attention to detail have won them many awards with the company representing some of the most exciting animation Directors in the country.
The trio first began working together at Cosgrove Hall on such projects as Danger Mouse, Little Robots and Andy Pandy before being tasked by Chapman Entertainment to set up a stop-frame animation studio for Roary the Racing Car, Fifi and the Flowertots and currently Raa Raa the Noisy Lion. During this time, they have added digital animation and visual effects capabilities into the business, culminating in a commission from CBBC to produce Muddle Earth, a 2D flash based production.
“By acquiring Hullabaloo Studios, we can provide a fully integrated creative, production and post-production service to clients working across all styles of animation,” says Chalk. “It is a pleasure to work for Chapman Entertainment on Fifi, Roary and now Raa Raa, they have been incredibly creative and supportive of the animation process and this relationship has resulted in some great shows being produced. Working with CBBC on Strange Hill High and Muddle Earth has also been a brilliant experience and we look forward to announcing future projects for a range of broadcasters in the future.”
