WITH THE
HEART TRUTH'S RED DRESS COLLECTION FASHION SHOW
Year of
Activity Around Iconic Brand Starts With Program To Raise Awareness For Heart
Disease in Women; Other Elements Include Live Stage Show, Cruise And New
Products
NEW YORK -
February 9, 2011 - 2011 is the
60th anniversary of I Love Lucy and would have been the
100th birthday of its iconic star - Lucille Ball. To
celebrate this banner year, CBS Consumer Products has created a yearlong
campaign that celebrates one of the most influential TV shows in history.
The campaign kicks off with a special presence at The Heart Truth's
Red Dress Collection Fashion Show on February 9. Other
highlights will include the debut of a Lucy Live stage show, themed cruise and
new anniversary products including calendars, ornaments, gifts and a special
edition Barbie.
The Heart
Truth® - a national
awareness campaign for women about heart disease - is going to shine a spotlight
on I Love Lucy during its marquee event of the year The Heart Truth's
Red Dress Collection Fashion Show. This star-studded event
aimed at raising awareness will honor the memory of Lucille Ball - a victim of
heart disease - and her namesake program to help spread its message.
This is one part of an extended relationship between CBS and The Heart
Truth that will continue with on-air PSAs and integrated programming on two
of its top game shows - The Price Is Right and Let's Make a Deal.
The fashion show also will be streamed live on CBSnews.com, with WCBS-TV
anchor Kristine Johnson hosting.
Further
anniversary celebrations on tap for I Love Lucy include a special I
Love Lucy Anniversary Cruise that will set sail in October.
The cruise will include Lucy-themed live shows, discussions with special
guests, screenings of the most-loved episodes and trivia contests.
In another effort to bring the spirit and humor of the show alive, CBS
Consumer Products will also launch the world's first Lucy Live stage
show.
Lucy fans will
also get a treat with a slew of new anniversary products making their way onto
shelves in 2011. These products include: gifts from Vandor,
calendars from Mead, ornaments from Kurt Adler & American Greetings and
finally a special edition Barbie two-pack including Lucy and Desi.
"These are
major milestones for one of the most influential television programs and
entertainment figures in history," said Liz
Kalodner,
executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products. "The
events are just the start of a banner year for I Love
Lucy." MEDIA CONTACT: Leslie Ryan leslie.ryan@cbs.com 310-264-3406
