Licensing New Europe 2010 Opens Its Doors

The Licensing New Europe 2010 Show & Conference, currently taking place in Zagreb, Croatia, has enjoyed a successful opening ceremony, with endorsements and support from the Deputy Mayor of Zagreb, Jelene Vukicevic, as well as members of the Croatian government.

The three day event follows on from last year’s hugely successful debut show and aims to promote the role of licensing in the New Europe region, an area comprising 35 countries and with more than 400 million inhabitants across Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe, Russia and CIS. New Europe offers huge potential in terms of licensing and merchandising and Charles Riotto, President of LIMA, has offered his support to Creata in their efforts to promote licensing activity in the region.

Around 30 international companies are exhibiting at the show, including Plus Licens, Kidz Entertainment/EEMC and the European Licensing Company and visitor numbers promise to be high, with 350 pre-registrations recorded. The comprehensive conference and seminar programme will include a detailed look at the region by experts from Russia, Ukraine, Serbia and other New Europe territories.

The host of international experts speaking at the show include Professor Linas Liubinskas, a leading authority on international strategic marketing, Christian Fortmann, European Trademark Attorney at the 24ip Law Group, Dr Igor Matutinovic, Managing Director of the GfK Group - one of the largest market research companies in the world, Jovan Milenkovic from Belgrade-based Prava i Prevodi - the biggest rights agency in Eastern Europe, and Dr Velimir Srića, a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb.

“Licensing New Europe 2010 has got off to an excellent start,” says LIMA New Europe Regional Representative Zeljko William Krnjak, “we have a diverse range of delegates, exhibitors and speakers here and everybody is excited about the opportunities that exist for the expansion and growth of the licensing sector in this region.”
