DIRTGIRL GETS READY FOR RETAIL
CP International Clothing Ltd sign as first licensee for BBC Worldwide’s dirtgirlworld.
BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has today announced CP International Clothing Ltd as the first external licensee for the hit children’s property, dirtgirlworld. The partnership will see a range of high-end children’s daywear produced for the brand.
An upbeat musical show for children aged 3 to 7, dirtgirlworld explores the natural world and encourages audiences to get outside and 'get grubby'. Developed by mememe productions, the series combines animated and live action, along with photomontage and illustration to deliver its unique style of eco-tainment. Since its launch on CBeebies in November 2009, the show has witnessed a fantastic reception from audiences, with recent viewing figures ranking it within the channels top 10 shows.
Reflective of the brand’s environmental ethos, CP International will produce a range of 100% organic apparel for both boys and girls, including t-shirts, dresses and dungarees. Initial lines will launch through independent retailers for Spring/Summer 2011, with plans to explore further opportunities later in the year.
Commenting on the partnership, Cassie Allen, Apparel Licensing Manager for BBCWorldwide, said: “This is significant step in a promising future for dirtgirlworld. With the show’s great success on CBeebies, and its unique visual appeal and green values, it’s been well established that the brand is open for innovative and exciting licensing partnerships. It’s fantastic that CP International are providing 100% organic product, and we’re continuing to explore other eco-conscious licensing opportunities for the show.”
