ROARY NOMINATED FOR ‘CHILDREN’S CHOICE’ AT BRITISH ANIMATION AWARDS

Television production and licensing company, Chapman Entertainment prides itself on its British roots, and therefore is pleased to announce that its popular boys’ pre-school animation, Roary the Racing Car, has been nominated for a Children’s Choice Award at the British Animation Awards (BAA) taking place on 8th April 2010 at the BFI on SouthBank.

This is Chapman Entertainment’s third nomination in recent months for Roary, following its success at the Royal Television Society Awards in November, and its nomination at the Broadcast Awards for Best Pre-school Programme.

Greg Lynn, Managing Director of Chapman Entertainment and Executive Producer of Roary the Racing Car comments, “We are so excited to be nominated for a Children’s Choice Award.  The team at the studio in Manchester and our production team in London work very hard so it is great that they have been rewarded in this way!”

Roary the Racing Car follows the adventures of Roary, a bright, cheeky and energetic single-seater, filled with boundless enthusiasm and curiosity, which often drives him straight into trouble!  He learns from his mistakes as he speeds through life.

Top names from the world of comedy and motor sport have lent their voices to the show including comic genius, Peter Kay, who plays fun-loving mechanic, Big Chris - he takes on the role of guardian to all the cars at Silver Hatch. Racing legend Sir Stirling Moss narrates the series, and most recently the veteran voice of Formula One, Murray Walker has joined the cast, playing himself in two special episodes.

Like the talent, the series is truly British, produced at the Chapman Entertainment studios in Altrincham, Cheshire. Chapman Entertainment was formed in 2002 by the successful trio, Greg Lynn, Keith Chapman and Andrew Haydon. It is a rapidly growing company specialising in the creation, production and IP management of original, quality children’s and family entertainment properties. Creativity is key for Chapman and the business and there is a raft of future projects for a range of age groups in development, including the BBC acquired Little Charley Bear and Rah Rah The Noisy Lion.
