Smiley announces new deal with licensee Aegis

Aegis, the UKspecialist in the field of mobile phone accessories has been awarded an exclusive license by ‘The Smiley Company’ to produce a range of mobile phone accessories for the ‘SmileyWorld’ brand.  The range will include mobile phone hands free kits, cases, socks, silicone cases, pendants and charms, camera pouches and laptop sleeves.

The range targeted at young adults will have its own distinct style based on the cool looks, stylish graphics and fun design philosophy of Smileyworld.  Aegis sells their products via specialized phone chains and supermarkets such as Tesco, Carrefour, Asda, O2 and Vodaphone.

This pan-European range is priced at£2.99 to£14.00 and will be launched in stores in May 2010.

Smiley’s CEO Nicolas Loufrani says, “The SmileyWorld brand is a natural for cell phone related products as our icons are already used by tens of millions of people to communicate with short messages.  I am sure this new partnership with Aegis will transform into a very successful venture.”

Underpinning all ranges is the style and sensibility of The Smiley Company. Based on the world-famous Smiley logo, The Smiley Company is a brand that spreads positive values through cool and stylish graphic designs and encourages ethical production of items based on the brand, such as clothing, bags and shoes made from 100% organic cotton.

10% of all sales will go to charity through the Smiley World Association, which was formed in 2005 to help people in need by setting up health and educational infrastructures in third world countries.
