CHAPMAN ENTERTAINMENTS’ ROARY THE RACING CAR WINS
RTS NORTHWEST AWARD
Jenson Button isn’t the only racing car legend to reach number one status in the UK, as pre-school sensation, Roary The Racing Car, wins ‘Best Children’s Programme’ at the Royal Television Society’s North West Awards on Saturday 14th November 2009.
‘Hellie’s A Winner’ was the Roary the Racing Car episode that won in the prestigious category. It competed against Chapman Entertainment’s other popular pre-school series, Fifi and the Flowertots, and Citizenship & Surveillance for the BBC Learning Zone.
Managing Director of Chapman Entertainment and Executive Producer, Greg Lynn, and Roary The Racing Car Director, Tim Harper, accepted the award.
Greg Lynn comments: “We pride ourselves on making first class shows for pre-schoolers and winning ‘Best Children’s Programme’ for Roary is a great honour - especially as he is in such excellent company! This Award is a reflection of the combined talents of a dedicated team of specialists working in the field of children’s animation, and I’d particularly like to thank both the production team in London and at the studio, Tim Harper, our Director and Phil Chalk, our Senior Producer, on a job well done.”
The Award ceremony was held at the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester and saw over 400 people from the television and creative industries in the North West come together.
Since its launch, Roary The Racing Car has taken the chequered flag by securing over 100 licensees internationally and he has been sold to over 138 countries.
Chapman Entertainment was formed in 2002 by the successful trio, Greg Lynn, Keith Chapman (originator of Bob the Builder), and Andrew Haydon. It is a rapidly growing company specialising in the creation, production and IP management of original, quality children’s and family entertainment properties.
